Kill Those Bugs
Should I disinfect my landing net after each trip and if so, what should I use?
Mark Burdass replies: Disinfecting landing nets, fishing waders and wading boots is always good practice to reduce the potential spread of disease. There are quite a few chemical disinfectants that work well but they must be used properly. Always wash the net before disinfecting, as loads of slime and dirt will inactivate the chemicals. The other efficient way is to wash then air dry your net in sunlight. The UV light in the sunlight will inactivate most disease organisms.
