Fishtec/PSM League Team
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League Match Final Results
21st October was the final Fishtec league match of 2012. As the boats were tackling up the sun was bright and the wind was low with the odd few fish rising outside of the jetty. Most anglers were setting up with di3′s and fast glass fly lines and brightly coloured blob and booby type flies. Word had got round that Llandegfedd double up on the amount of stockies so it was on with the bright and gory, fish provoking flies.
Team Results from comp 6 (highlighted) and overall Team positions for 2012:

Congratulations to the Nymphomaniacs on winning three out of the six matches to finish on a total of 304 place points! Margam were the closest in the running and beat third place by almost 200 points.
Individual positions – Top 15

For the Second time in 5 years, our Online Marketing Manager for Fishtec and Nymphomaniac. Kieron Jenkins took top individual rod. Winning the overall trophy, an Airflo Airlite Nantec fly rod and a gold medal. Fellow Nympho Dean Kibble took 2nd position, and was lucky enough to win the first league match of the year.
It’s clear to say that the League match is undoubtedly THE competition to fish in Wales and it’s been said for the last three years that the calibre of Welsh anglers has increased no end and most are praising the Fishtec league match for this.
Another congratulations goes to all our sponsors, Scott and PSM, Celtic Fly craft, Welsh Water and Fly Fishing Tackle Retailer, Fishtec. Without the continued help and support from all our sponsors there would be no incentive to fish competitions and the league wouldn’t be worth running.
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League Match Team Results Round 5
The 5th Fishtec League match was fished 9th September. The fishing leading up until now was hit and miss, it was very ‘poddy’, you could be just 10 yards away from a pod and not get anything! The weather was perfect, high cloud and minimal sunshine with a comfortable 12mph wind. It was the sort of day you know the fish will be up, but where?
Team Results from comp 5 and overall position so far:

Top team for the second time in as many comps was again Margan Fly Fishers. Margam used the hit and run tactic where sticking to one method and covering a lot of water to locate the fish. Once located they then sat on the fish building their bags consistently through the team to give them a good overall position. The top method for the day was pulling blobs and boobies on one of the Airflo Sweep fly lines. The di3 gave a great presentation in the water, letting the flies to be fished close to the surface until the weight of the head pulls the flies down. That sweeping motion seemed distributable to fish.
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League Team results Round 4
The fourth Fishtec League match was again tough like the previous. High winds and bright sunshine put the fish off the feed and the fishing took anglers by surprise. With not much fly activity the fish were hard to locate and coming across a couple was like winning the lottery.
Team Results and overall position so far:

Top team of the day was Margam with an impressive overall total of just 32 points. The majority of the team used the original 3ft airflo supple impact mini tips, with a team of nymphs suspended by a small booby or blob. Fish fell early on to the booby but with both boat and angling pressure fish instantly became weary and the nymphs seemed to out fish anything.
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League Team results Round 3
The third Fishtec League match turned out to be tougher than expect, near perfect conditions from the off quickly deteriorated with bright sunshine and 15mph winds quickly setting in. Many anglers struggled from the off until the weather broke and cloud cover made its way in at around 3pm. Fish started to rise and flies in or on the surface were what most anglers fished.
Team Results and overall position so far:

Top team of the day, Snatchers, caught an impressive 60+ fish to secure 54 place points. (see column ’comp 3‘). Fish are now more spread out on the lake and can be found further and further from the shore each day as fish travel across the lake in search of food. Top anglers on the day all fished Airflo Sixth Sense intermediate lines in a range of densities with many angler catching on the new Mid-Glass. Boobies and blobs seemed to provoke most action, with a few anglers taking fish on dry flies later on in the day.
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League results – Comp 2
May bank holiday weekend saw anglers compete in the Fishtec league May 6th, Llandegfedd reservoir. On the day, 56 anglers caught over 300 fish which were all safely returned.
Team Results and overall position so far:

After a few solid weeks of competitions, llandegfedd again performed brilliantly, producing a very fair match. Due to the water clarity most fish have become aware of the usual sinking lines and brightly coloured flies and are subject to more imitative patterns. Top team of the day fished the new Airflo Supple Impact Mini Tip and a team of four buzzers, static, in close to the shore. Water clarity is now at its best for years and so is the quality of the trout. Most of the fish that were caught are ‘over wintered’ or early season stockies which have adapted to life and found a substantial food source.
Fishtec/PSM/Celtic League results – Comp 1
The first round of the Fishtec league went ahead on April 1st, Llandegfedd reservoir. On the day, 56 anglers caught 780 fish making a very impressive rod average 13.928 , which was just ebaten back in 2008 by a rod average over over 15!
Team Results (individual results to follow)

Llandegfedd fished exceptionally well over the first competition with most big bags coming from the North Shore and the Gabiens. Anglers fished heavy sinking fly lines such as the Airflo Sixth Sense Di 7 and the new Forty plus fly lines. Fish where taking bright gory flies at the start of the day, but after extensive fishing trout turned to drabber colours such as Olives and Blacks. The end of the day saw a couple of fish being taken on buzzers and floating fly lines.
Fishtec/PSM league – overall 2011
Sunday 23rd October saw the last match of the year fished on Llandegfedd reservoir. This was the last of 6 matches fished throughout the year, usually two or three early season and the same nearer the end, missing out the busy competition schedule that a lot of Welsh anglers are involved with mid season.
The Fishec/PSM league is fished to a league scoring system where teams of four anglers participate for the best combined scores on the day. For example, if each members of one team come 1st, 3rd, 10th and 14th their combined total score (28) would give their team position and the same as individual over 5 matches (give or take between two for individual attendance).
Over the past 5 years the comp has been getting better and better with more and more teams participating, and the standard of Welsh anglers increasing ten fold. I guess this is due to anglers fishing more competitions and along side some of the best Welsh anglers.
This year the fishing on llandegfedd has been outstanding all year round with the competition this year producing its best results with the final comp rod average hitting 8.11 fish, and the lowest average of the whole comp being a respectable 5.05. Fourteen teams, 56 anglers took an overall rod average of 6.39 fish, which is a fantastic accolade for the fishery and anglers.
