We love it when we get a complete record of a good week’s catches from our anglers. Apart from it being a precise record of the fishing holiday, it gives us an accurate insight into how the carp are doing, how much weight was dropped during spawning, what baits are working best at what time of year and where the fish are coming from – all valuable information we use to pass on to future anglers.
Paul Browning fished Commons Lake with his Dad and his brothers as part of his birthday pressie. He wanted to break his PB and bank a 40 for his 40th… well he did better than that!
His first fish out was a new PB at 37lb 10oz and subsequently during a very busy week, Paul went on to smash his PB again and get his first 40 with a 41lb 12oz common.
Not content with that, Paul went on to break his PB for the third time with a 44lb 6oz mirror.
Chris Griffiths had a fantastic opening week at Laroussi banking a stunning 72lb mirror plus back-up fish of 47, 38, 48, 45, 40, 25 plus a common of 25lb. Chris’s comments;
“A 72lb mirror – wow! I still can’t believe it! We arrived at the lake to be greeted by owner, Mehdi, who took us round the lake, gave us some good tips, then left us to it. We had a fantastic week and we will definitely be back every year… we can’t thank you enough for such a great week. I baited up little and often & bright coloured pop-ups worked well. Like Mehdi says this isn’t an easy lake to fish but work hard and you’ll get good results.“
With Carp Fishing high on the agenda in the coarse fishing closed season, general maintenance work has started at Watersmeet to get the venue and facilities up to scratch for the fore-coming season. Grant, Jez & Shane have had an outstanding opening week at Watersmeet taking 3 x 40lb+ carp & a host of other 30′s.
